TAWIRI - Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute, Tanzania.

The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) is a public institution that was established under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism in 1980 with the mandate to carry out and co-ordinate wildlife research in the United Republic of Tanzania. TAWIRI is the CITES Scientific Authority in Tanzania. The headquarters of TAWIRI is at Njiro in Arusha, Tanzania.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND REGISTRATION FOR THE 7TH TAWIRI SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE, DECEMBER 2 - 4 , 2009.

The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) is pleased to announce a call for abstracts and registration for the Seventh Scientific Conference that will be held in Arusha , Tanzania from December 2 - 4,2009 . We would like to bring your attention to the following updates:-

Conference Theme:

"Wildlife Conservation in a changing world".

Conference Sub-Themes:

1: Wildlife diseases/ecosystem and population health.

2: Human-Wildlife Interaction.

3: Socio-economics and tourism.

4: Wildlife ecology and behaviour.

5: Biodiversity, conservation and monitoring.

Abstracts:

Each presenter is requested to submit an abstract not exceeding 300 words. The abstract should reach the organizing committee not later than Monday August 31st, 2009. Specifically, the manuscript should be organized as follows; Title (short and clear bearing names and addresses of authors), Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, (including statistical methods used), Results, Discussion (including any recommendations/conservation applications), Acknowledgement, and References. We advice all presenters to observe brevity and clarity in preparing their manuscripts. Oral or poster presentations at the conference will be subject to submission of full manuscripts. The length of each paper should not be more than 12 pages (single spaced). Authors of accepted papers for oral/poster presentation will be notified by October 30th 2009.

Presentations:

Presenters are encouraged to choose between oral or poster presentations of their research work. This will contribute to information exchange and discussion at the meeting.

Registration:

A registration fee of 50,000 Tshs or USD 50 per participant will have to be paid not later than September, 30th 2009. Late or on site registration will be 75,000 Tshs or USD 75.

Language:

The conference language is English.

Accommodation:

TAWIRI will provide accommodation to a limited number of Tanzanian participants whose papers will be accepted for presentation.
