PRINCIPAL RESEARCH OFFICER (1 POSITION) Qualification and experience • Holder of a PhD degree in Wildlife Science, Zoology, Biology, Botany, Veterinary Science or any related discipline from a recognized Institution. • A research/field experience of not less than two years in wildlife or related field after PhD degree. • Must have published at least three scientific publications in local and international journals after PhD degree. • Report and proposal writing skills are an added advantage • Must be a Tanzanian citizen not more than 45 years old. Main duties and responsibilities: • Carrying out independent research • Plan, develop, implement and coordinate TAWIRI research activities • Supervision of TAWIRI projects as well as those being undertaken by registered local and foreign scientists. • Undertake training of both scientific and technical staff • Participate in research activities of the Institute and dissemination of results in collaboration with other local and foreign scientists • Preparing reports of ongoing/completed research projects • Participate in development and evaluation of research programmes of the Institute or research projects • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director General Salary: PRSS 18 (Tshs 2,249,550 x 79,570 per month) 2. PRINCIPAL RESEARCH ASSITANT (1 POSITION) Qualification and experience: • Form IV or VI with ordinary Diploma in Wildlife Management, Forestry or Beekeeping from a recognised training Institution. • A minimum working/research experience of not less than six years. • Must be a Tanzanian citizen not more than 45 years old. Main duties and responsibilities: • Responsible for managing and coordinating research activities as directed by the principal investigators of local and foreign funded research projects. • Prepare reports of ongoing and completed research projects. • Participate in research activities of the institute. • Participate in dissemination of research results. • Supervise junior research assistants. • Perform any other duties assigned. • Supervising on-going research projects and junior staff • Participate in research of the Institute and dissemination of results in collaboration with other local and visiting scientists • Participate in development and evaluation of research programmes of the Institute or research projects • Raise funds for conducting wildlife research through development of sellable research proposals • Must be prepared to work in remote areas including research Centres of the Institute • Perform any other duties assigned by the Director General.
