TAWIRI is governed by the Board of Directors including the Director General who is the Chief Executive officer of the Institute. The Director General is answerable to the Board, which is responsible for the proper performance and management of the affairs of the Institute. (See contact details.)

Currently, there are two Units at the TAWIRI Head Office:

1. The Directorate of Research:
Dr. Julius Keyyu is the Director of Research, responsible for developing and coordinating all wildlife research carried out in Tanzania by the Institute and other researchers.

2. Accounts Unit.
Mrs. Janeth Nnko is the head of the unit which is responsible for accounts of the Institute.

Facilities at headquarters include:

  • Two (2) aircrafts for aerial censuses.

  • Efficient communication facilities.

  • Eight (15) vehicles.
  • Ten(25) Computers
